Densitometer Connection Setup

To connect a densitometer to automate reading input you need to attach the densitometer to the PCs serial port using a null modem cable.

Most pcs no longer have a serial port, but you can use a usb to serial adapter, available from computer suppliers.

Null modem

A null modem cable has the transmit and receive signals crossed.

The DSR/DTR/CTS/RTS signals are usually not used, so these can be looped back.

Note: The 881/882 has a 10-way socket, but only the centre 8 pins are used for transmitting.
